Photography: Skelmorlie Camera Club
Location
The club is located on the West Coast of Scotland and has been in existence since 1997. Our members who are of a broad range of age and abilities, meet most weeks on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm from October to April in the Skelmorlie Community Centre.
We have a varied program of lectures, workshops, and competitions to cover most photographic interests. The primary aim of the club is that everyone should enjoy photography whatever their level of involvement or expertise. It also aims to provide a platform for members to display their work by staging several exhibitions in the area throughout the year.
The club offers a warm and friendly welcome to new members and visitors at all times.
Skelmorlie is a small village located on the Clyde Estuary on the West Coast of Scotland. It is an ideal photographic location. From Skelmorlie you can capture the changing skies and seascape of a panoramic view which encompasses the broad expanse of the Firth of Clyde, the Isles of Bute, Cumbrae and even the mountains of Arran in the distance.
The village boasts its own castle set in 50 acres of woodland, lawns and orchard on west facing slopes looking out to sea. Skelmorlie Castle was originally the property of the Cunninghams and passed to the Montgomerys in the 1460s. The tower house of the present castle was built in 1502, and is the ancient stronghold of the chiefs of Clan Montgomery.
