We will be using the intimate Wallace Bennett Theatre and as always with the Arts Guild all tickets will be £12.50 with accompanied under 16's free.

Inverclyde Folk Club

Harborlite Music has teamed up with Inverclyde Folk Club to bring Scottish Folk sensation Fiona Mackenzie direct from Celtic Connections to the newly refurbished Loreto Club. Fiona and her band will be playing on Saturday 16th February in what promises to be the start of something special for Folk Music lovers in Inverclyde. All tickets are £10.00 for members and guests. Usual Club Rules apply.

Alison and Fiona McNeill

We have now added The Alison McNeill Ceilidh Band to the Musicians page.

Here's what www.inverclydenow.com had to say about them...

TALENTED sisters Alison and Fiona McNeill enjoyed hit the right note for Inverclyde’s arts festival.

The pair from Gourock each have a band and took part in musical events at the Myths and Legends event at the weekend.

Fiona’s group Artos was among musicians who took part in the Buskers’ Fair in the Oak Mall shopping centre. Artos delighted the crowd outside Rhythmic Records with their trendy folk music.

Fiona said: "It was a wonderful opportunity to play at such an event and to help raise money for the new Arts Guild. Hopefully one day my band will play there."

Alison McNeill's Ceilidh Band, which Fiona also plays in, livened up the crowd when they performed on the big stage at Clyde Square. Alison has represented Inverclyde near and far since the age of 13.

Joe McMahon

Joe has been added onto the Musicians page. His new CD, "A Day To Remember" will be available in the shop soon.

Iain Morrison

Iain has been added onto the Musicians page and we can also tell you he will be releasing a new CD very soon.

The Coy Dogs

We've had an email or two from the Coy Dogs who we met at The Arts Guild Theatre. They have passed on some CD's and recordings and asked if we could list them on the site.

After listening to the great Rock n Roll and Rockabilly they play we've decided it would only be right to have them on the site as they play the best kind of roots Rock n Roll. See Musicians page for more info. Dates are on the What's On page.

Darden Smith & Christy McGuigan

We have had to cancel Darden Smith and Christy McGuigan on 3rd November. This has been due to the venue and is completley outwith our control. We have tried other venues however due to the demand for the Myths and Legends Festival all venues have been booked up months in advance.

Darden will still be doing his 'Be An Artist' program for two local schools.

We will also travel outwith the area to bring you a review of Darden.

The Wherries

The Wherries long awaited 3rd Album has now been released!

Wherries fans from all over the world have expressed their interest already and we're quite sure this CD will be flying off the virtual shelves of this website very soon.

The Lazarenkos

The Lazarenkos are also putting the finishing touches to their new CD due for release in the near future. We expect there will be an exclusive launch party organised. Watch this space for more details.

The Gaels

A 3 CD set of legendary local band The Gaels is in the pipeline!

After being unearthed the tapes were found to contain some classic performances from one of Inverclydes favourite bands. "At The Dugout", "Live at the Kip" and "Live and Unwashed" will feature all The Gaels classics along with some long forgotten tracks.

"At The Dugout" was available on a limited edition run a few years ago then removed from circulation.

"Live at the Kip" was recorded on Burns Night a few years ago.

"Live and Unwashed" is also at Inverkip Marina from the same Burns Night show as "Live at the Kip" but contains the full unedited interaction between the band members and the audience.

Rampant Records

Around 10 years ago there used to be a regular Sunday afternoon "Jam Session" in what used to be Connelly's Bar in Greenock. These Sunday afternoon Live Music sessions became cult following with singers, songwriters and musicians from all over attending.

These "Jam Sessions" were quickly taken over by Rampant Records and they recorded a number of bands both Live and in the Studio. These recordings were made available to those involved.

"An interesting fact about the recordings is the mercenary tactics of some musicians as they would play for any band for the price of a beer! If a band were missing a drummer or guitarist someone else would be called and a replacement found. Sometimes musicians were even replaced mid song!" - Rampant Spokesperson

In a major coup we have secured these remastered CD's for the online shop and hope they bring back a few memories of those involved and an insight into the music scene around Inverclyde way back then.
